The Paul Reynolds Community Centre is a new 73,750 sf, multi-use facility that includes a 6-lane, 25 m competition pool, leisure pool, full-sized gymnasium, seniors’ and youth centres, a fitness studio, and flexible multi-purpose program spaces. The aquatic and recreation functions required a durable, high-performance building envelope capable of managing continuous high humidity, demanding interior temperature conditions, and complex structural interfaces.
Engineering Link provided full building envelope consulting support throughout design and construction, including:
Design-Phase Consulting: Detailing reviews and building envelope strategy development, with a focus on moisture management, vapour control, building pressurization, continuity of thermal and air barriers, and long-term durability in a humid aquatic environment.
Construction-Phase Support: Periodic site reviews to verify installation practices, assess substrate conditions, and confirm continuity of critical envelope components.
Field Testing: On-site air and water leakage testing of windows, curtain wall assemblies, and related components to validate installation quality and performance.
Specialized Detailing: Development and review of details addressing humidity-driven risks, including window anchor interfaces, exterior soffits, and transition points susceptible to condensation or envelope stress.
