Engineering Link was retained by the City of Markham to provide condition assessment, design development, preparation, and contract administration services for rehabilitation work to the Cornell Community Centre Parkade.
The Cornell Community Centre Parkade is a split-storey, open-air parking facility. It was constructed circa 2013 and is approximately 37,800 sf and provides parking for approximately 305 vehicles. The parkade utilizes precast concrete construction. The P1 level is a slab-on-grade and the P2 and P3 levels have a thin waterproofing system.
The repair scope includes:
Localized concrete repairs at concrete topping and double tee connectors
Localized structural repairs at shear connectors
Waterproofing repairs, including wholesale installation of Polyurethane-Methacrylate Traffic Topping on the P3 Level
Wholesale replacement of the control joints/expansion joints on the P3 Level
Localized repairs to the architectural precast panels cladding the garage
