55 John Street (Metro Hall) consists of a 28-storey municipal office building considered to be the second most important hub for maintaining City of Toronto public services. The building has a busy parking garage that consists of two intermediate suspended parking slabs P1 and P2 level, which are protected with an elastomeric traffic deck coating system (waterproofing membrane).
The main scope of work included: partial suspended slab replacement, concrete repairs elastomeric traffic deck coating renewal, parking ramp replacement and lighting retrofit. Acoustic and vibration analysis was completed for this project to manage possible impacts from the demolition work on the building and the adjacent CBC radio headquarters.
