New Eritrean Orthodox Tewahdo St. Michael Church, a one-story building with a basement and mezzanine, totaling 34,200 sq ft.
We developed structural design documents for a conventional steel-framed superstructure, adapting from the initially planned pre-engineered building design, while ensuring compatibility with the existing mechanical systems. Our design incorporated a future 3,600 sq ft mezzanine and coordinated with the foundation and ground floor designs provided by Brickhouse Structural Engineering Ltd.
Our services included the preparation of structural contract documents for permit, tender, and construction, addressing wall and column placement, floor structure depth, and lateral load resisting elements. We provided a load breakdown plan for coordination with the ground floor and foundation design. Additionally, we managed contract administration, including shop drawing reviews, construction meetings, and the creation of as-built drawings.
We also addressed subsequent revisions to the exterior wall system, adapting the structural design for a change from IMP to EIFS. This involved revising and reissuing structural contract documents to accommodate the new wall system, ensuring structural integrity and compatibility with the architectural, mechanical, and electrical designs.
