Engineering Link provided a structural review of proposed framing to support four new circular silencers above an existing laboratory exhaust fan located on the roof of the 9-storey building. The total height of the new steel frame is approximately 30 feet. Our scope of work included:
Review structural design of the frame for weight of the new silencers and the existing exhaust stack caps, applicable snow, rain and ice loading and lateral loads due to wind and seismic events
Prepare markups of preliminary drawings indicating and revisions to the proposed framing arrangement or steel member sizes.
Provide a summary of forces at the base of the new frame which will be resisted by the existing roof construction.
Review and seal final fabrication drawings.
Contract Administration for the structural portion of the project.
