The City of Barrie and County of Simcoe were among the largest growing areas in Canada. To accommodate this growth, the Barrie Simcoe Emergency Services Campus was designed and constructed to serve the growing population. The project followed a unique model that brought several emergency services together in one facility to reduce capital and maintenance costs and enhance inter-agency communication.
The project included a main building (Building A), which served as the new police and paramedic headquarters. Fire and emergency services also shared the communications space within the main building. A large vehicle maintenance bay was also included as part of the facility. Provisions were made for a future Phase 2 building, which would include a training building (Building B), gun range, and exterior training props.
The total project budget for Phase 1 was $103 million.
