The new 7-storey, 600,000-square-foot hospital was designed to seamlessly connect to the 145-bed long-term care facility on the adjacent site. It includes 164 inpatient beds and provides the same range of services as the Western Memorial Regional Hospital, with an expanded cancer care program incorporating radiation therapy.
The hospital’s building envelope was designed to meet stringent thermal performance and air leakage requirements in compliance with MNECB 2017. The exterior walls featured a combination of metal panel cladding and masonry veneer, while windows were integrated into an advanced curtain wall system. The roofing primarily consisted of modified bituminous membrane, with select areas of metal roofing.
