Engineering Link has been working with Burger King and their design partners on a series of new prototype
restaurants and renovation projects across Ontario. Our involvement includes multiple ground-up, ±2,800–3,600
sf free-standing restaurants, pavilion-type locations, and conversions of existing spaces into modern Burger King
formats in communities such as Exeter, Simcoe, St. Thomas, Hamilton, Timmins, and the GTA.
As structural engineers, we helped develop and refine a repeatable restaurant prototype that can be adapted to
different sites, soil conditions, and building configurations, from standalone pads with drive-thrus to retail units
within larger commercial developments. On each site, our office provided structural design and review of
foundations, superstructure, floor and roof framing, canopies, and penetrations for new mechanical and kitchen
equipment, as well as structural input for interior fit-outs and renovations of existing buildings.
The result is a coordinated, efficient structural solution that supports a consistent national brand image while
remaining flexible enough to respond to local site constraints, fast-track schedules, and evolving program
requirements.
