Envelope condition assessments were completed at the property known as Canada Life Campus which includes 180 Queen Street W., 180 Simcoe Street, 190 Simcoe Street, and 330 University Avenue. The building components reviewed at each property included Building Envelope, Roofing and Site Pavements/Parking.

Engineering Link was retained to design and administer full replacement of the exterior sealant (caulking) at 190 Simcoe Street. The design included performance improvements to address air leakage and new two-stage sealant joints between precast panels to improve long-term resistance to water penetration. A premium silicone sealant was selected to provide an expected sealant service life of more than 35 years.

he Canada Life Building in Toronto is a designated heritage property under Part IV of the Ontario Heritage Act. This designation was formalized on February 20, 1997, recognizing the building’s architectural and historical significance. The building is a prominent example of the Beaux-Arts style and has been a notable feature of Toronto’s architectural landscape since its completion in 1931.
