Structural design for a 6-storey partial infill of an existing atrium to accommodate four new low-rise, glazed elevators. This project included elevator and HVAC enhancements, expansion of the penthouse mechanical room, and new HVAC chases. Additional structural work involved cladding of existing column H from level 2 to level 4, revised framing for the new escalator pit, and relocating an escalator and existing stairs. We also prepared and issued revised structural documents for the proposed changes, signed and stamped by a Licensed Professional Engineer in Ontario.
Our approach involved meticulous planning of interior spaces to ensure a seamless integration of the existing structure with the new additions. This included developing a strategy to enhance the functionality and aesthetic appeal of the interior, such as optimizing the layout for increased rentable office space and improving the flow between different areas. The design also focused on creating a clear and open structure with abundant natural light, enhancing the overall work environment. By clearly defining and strengthening the interior spaces, the renovation presents a contemporary image consistent with modern commercial developments.
