Engineering Link provided whole-building airtightness testing and building envelope diagnostics for Building 1 at Evergreen Brick Works in Toronto. The existing two-storey building required baseline air leakage testing to help inform the design team’s mechanical system sizing as part of the building’s retrofit.

The work supported the ongoing renewal of the existing building by establishing a clear understanding of its current airtightness performance and identifying major areas of air infiltration that could be addressed through the retrofit process.

Testing included whole-building pressurization and depressurization in accordance with ASTM E3158-18, along with infrared thermography and theatrical fog testing to identify major and systemic sources of air leakage through the building envelope. Engineering Link also completed a pre-test site review, provided building preparation requirements, and prepared testing results and a final report documenting the building’s airtightness performance.

The results provided the project team with valuable information to support mechanical design decisions and help guide improvements to the building envelope as part of the overall renovation.
