This project is being completed by JLL and Engineering Link. Engineering Link is the Building Envelope Consultant.
Assist the City of Calgary in achieving a 60% reduction in GHG emissions by 2030 and net zero emissions by 2050 across over 500 city-owned facilities, including administration buildings, recreation centers, emergency services, and operations facilities.
The feasibility studies include analyzing existing buildings and systems to identify opportunities for lifecycle upgrades and net zero transitions. They will determine technologies and pathways to reduce energy use and carbon emissions, identify necessary investments for net zero emissions, and provide innovative, financially feasible engineering solutions.
As the Building Envelope Consultant, Engineering Link will focus on detailed thermographic evaluations of the building envelope and roof to identify deficiencies and propose improvements. This involves assessing various wall assemblies, roof structures, windows, doors, and other envelope components, utilizing NECB 2020 Thermal Bridge Modeling and ASHRAE standards to determine effective U-values and R-values.
Deliverables include thermography summary reports, building performance analysis, Life Cycle Cost Analysis (LCCA), and energy modeling. The LCCA will cover capital, operating, and maintenance costs, comparing various options. The energy model will use IESVE, Energy Plus, or an approved equivalent to assess sustainability strategies and conduct iterative modeling.
