Engineering Link was retained by St. Joseph’s Healthcare Hamilton (SJHH) to provide full services to oversee the design development, preparation, and contract administration of rehabilitation work on two parkade structures, namely Ramp № 1 and Ramp № 3. The work is phased in two parts due to hospital operations and available funding. The first phase (Parking Ramps № 1 and № 2 work) commenced in Summer of 2021, and the second phase (Parking Ramp № 3) will commence work in the Summer of 2022.

Engineering Link is providing a review and design brief assessment of areas in the parking ramps that require immediate rehabilitation. Additional items in our design package include:

  • Structural design for the replacement of the temporary shoring installed in Parking Ramp № 1.
  • Revise existing signage and locations providing new specifications for a standard-based/code/local by-laws.
  • Specify approach for re-painting of Parking Ramps № 1 and № 3.
  • Replacement of wooden bumpers throughout the garages.
  • Design for Replacement of existing new frames, doors and hardware in Parking Ramps № 1, № 2, and № 3.
  • Design for all expansion joint repairs and replacements.
  • Replace as required for all metal guard rails, railings, metal screen supports, lintels, etc.
  • Specify stairwell cleaning and painting where required.
  • Design for replacement of proper exit lighting to current codes and any lighting recommendations regarding photocell control or timers and lighting levels.
  • Review and design slope at parking exit grades onto public roads. Some areas are a concern regarding the proper leveling of surface and cars scraping when exiting to street.
